<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device capable of reducing generation of luminance unevenness resulting from a support member to support a light guide body. <P>SOLUTION: This surface light source device 10 includes a plurality of light guide bodies 21... provided parallel with the longitudinal direction thereof while having gaps respectively, a plurality of light sources to make light enter from at least one end faces respectively in the longitudinal direction of the light guide bodies 21, a diffusion plate 15 provided on the emitting side of light in the light guide body 21 to extract light guided in the inside of the light guide body 21, and a support member 31 to support the gap 22 of the light guide body 21 at a prescribed intervals.
