PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which stirs a liquid in an up-down direction. SOLUTION: The printer 11 includes a carriage 16 which moves back and forth in the main scan direction X, a liquid ejection head 18 carried on the carriage 16, a stirrer 27 which has magnetic poles held in a liquid holding chamber 17a carried on the carriage 16, and an external magnet 26 arranged below the liquid holding chamber 17a in a moving region of the carriage 16. The stirrer 27 levitates because one side constituting a magnetic pole of the same kind as one magnetic pole of the external magnet 26 repulses by a magnetic force when the stirrer is located above the external magnet 26 following the movement of the carriage 16.
