PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cracks from occurring at the closed ends of sipes and suppress such damages that the edge part of a land part between the sipes is cut off from a tire tread part in the form of a lump in a heavy duty tire in which a plurality of sipes are provided to the edge parts of the land parts along the grooves in the tire circumferential direction. SOLUTION: The grooves in the tire circumferential direction are provided to the tire tread part of the heavy duty pneumatic tire, and a plurality of sipes which extend from the grooves in the tire circumferential direction into the land parts and closed are provided to the ends of the land parts which are joined to the grooves in the tire circumferential direction. Each sipe includes at least three straight sipe elements, that are, a first sipe element joined to the groove in the tire circumferential direction, a second sipe element having the closed end of the sipe extending in the direction of the inside of the land part, and a third sipe element which is disposed in the direction from the groove in the tire circumferential direction to the inside of the land part, joins the first sipe element and the second sipe element, and extends in the tire circumferential direction or the direction of the inside of the land part when advancing from the first sipe element side to the closed end side.
