The system has two path simulation devices (3, 24) and a brake pedal (1) actuating a coupled inlet element (20), where one of the path detection devices detects an operation path of the inlet element. Electrically controllable inlet and outlet valves (7a-7d, 8a-8d) are provided for adjusting wheel brake pressures. Separating piston devices (6a-6d) are assigned to wheel brakes (9-12) of a motor vehicle and adjusted by the inlet and outlet valves of a separating piston surface (37a-d). The inlet element is designed as a hydraulic piston and directly guided in a housing (15).
