PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which can suitably and flexibly set a degree of importance for each resource node to be assigned or assigned to a business service in a distributed computing environment in which a plurality of business services share resources. SOLUTION: The method for calculating the degree of importance of resources includes a process for receiving the degree of importance, which is given to each resource node to be assigned or assigned to the specific business services based on a unique policy in the specific business service, and a process for converting the received degree of importance into a degree of importance in a total system in accordance with data which is related to a policy for recalculating the degree of importance to be stored in a policy storage as well as is irrelevantly set for the unique policy for the specific business services. The policy for recalculating the degree of importance, also, can be flexibly and suitably set by an administrator for the total system so that the total system's resource allocation is optimized since the total system's degree of importance can be recalculated in accordance with the policy for recalculating the degree of importance.
