Disclosed are a tool and so on whereby a methylated region of a DNA can be detected within a short period of time while saving labor without being restricted by a nucleotide sequence and, moreover, the methylation can be quantified. Provided is a peptide, which comprises a metal finger motif and contains a tyrosine derivative at a helix-forming site in said motif, capable of recognizing a methylated region of a double-stranded DNA and binding thereto.
