PURPOSE: An alarm sound conversion method in a portable terminal is provided to convert an alarm sound mode through volume control and to interwork alarm sound modes in a circular structure form. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal enters into a volume level control mode(310). The portable terminal presently receives a user instruction in an alarm sound mode(312). The portable terminal outputs alarm at a predetermined sound volume level(314,316). If the minimum value or the maximum value of the sound volume level generates, the portable terminal converts into the fixed the announcement sound mode(318,320).
