<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact exhaust gas treatment device in a simple structure, which regenerates a filter by removing particulate matter deposited on the filter and with less consumption energy, while suppressing the occurrence of local combustion. <P>SOLUTION: The filter 25 capturing the particulate matter in exhaust gas and ozone injecting ports 26a-26d are arranged on an exhaust gas flow passage. Ozone is released from the ozone injecting ports so that a non-uniform ozone concentration distribution is formed when the filter is viewed from an exhaust gas upstream side, and the ozone concentration distribution is changed with time.
