PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, highly efficient, highly reliable and lost-cost pump having an energy recovery apparatus of a large capacity desalination plant using a reverse osmosis membrane. SOLUTION: In this pump having the energy recovery apparatus, energy is recovered from a seawater feeding high-pressure pump in a desalination plant using a reverse osmosis membrane and high-pressure concentrated waste water through the reverse osmosis membrane, and the energy is used as a driving force for the seawater feeding high-pressure pump. A multistage Francis hydro turbine is used for energy recovery. Hydro turbine impellers and pump impellers are disposed opposite with each other coaxially with a shaft of the seawater feeding high-pressure pump to reduce an axial thrust. A thrust direction of the shaft is supported by a single axial thrust support device. A radial direction of the shaft is supported by a plurality of radial submerged bearings.
