[Also in Division F2] A dispensing valve, substantially all of whose components are made from plastics material, comprises a body 12 which is attached by a clamping screw 16 to the wall 10 of a hand-held dispensing unit, and has a hollow boss 18 depending therefrom. An inlet tube 20, press fitted into the boss 18, communicates through a horizontal transverse bore with an outlet passage 26. The bore, which is of tapered configuration, receives a similarly shaped hollow plastics closure member having formed intermediate its ends a dimple 44 which, when the member is rotated as by a handle 38 through 90 degrees from the position shown, brings ducts 26 and 20 into communication with one another. A rubber-like tube 24 is inserted between the closure member and the inlet tube 20 to ensure good sealing. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown), the outlet nozzle (90) is rotatable from a discharge position to one in which it overlies the closure member actuating handle (96) thereby locking it in its closed position. |
