PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote bone formation in an individual relating to a method for using GPR119 receptor in order to identify compounds useful for increasing bone mass in an individual. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for identifying useful compounds to increase bone mass in an individual by using a GPR119 receptor. The agonist of the GPR119 receptor is useful as a therapeutic agent for treating or preventing a condition characterized by a low bone mass, such as osteoporosis, and for increasing the bone mass in the individual.
