PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet whose optical performance can be maintained or improved and which is excellent in terms of other technologies and productivity, and to provide an image display device provided with the optical sheet. SOLUTION: The optical sheet 10 having a layer for controlling incident light and emitting the light has a first optical sheet 11 and a second optical sheet 21 which is a separate body from the first optical sheet and arranged to be separated from the first optical sheet with a predetermined gap. The first optical sheet has an optical function sheet layer 12 where a prism 14 formed to make light transmittable and a light absorption part 15 formed to make the light absorbable are alternately arranged along a sheet surface. In the cross section of the optical function sheet layer, the prism has a nearly trapezoidal shape, that is, a top whose width is small is arranged toward a gap and the light absorption part has a nearly triangular cross section having a bottom side toward the gap.
