PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for vehicles capable of preventing visibility reductions due to the shadow of a pointer. SOLUTION: A pointer section 23 provided for the back side of a dial 10 for indicating an index section 13 is constituted as part of the disk-like section 21 of a pointer plate 20. A light-shielding section 24 is formed at part of the pointer plate 20 except the pointer section 23 of the disk-like section 21. The pointer section 23 is illuminated by transmission light from a light source on the back side (not shown), as a light-scattering transmission section which transmits light as scattering it.
