PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device which enables a user to make a telephone call using the communication device even when the user cannot operate the communication device due to a shielding object or the like when an earthquake occurs. SOLUTION: The communication device includes a communication section, an earthquake information calculation section, and a timing section. The communication device further includes: a time monitoring section for measuring the elapsed time after reception by the timing section when an emergency earthquake report is received; a line connection section for connecting the line of contact to the transmission source of a line connection request when detecting the line connection request for the line of contact by the communication section in the state that the elapsed time is within the prescribed time; and a handsfree speech unit. When detecting the line connection request for the line of contact within the prescribed time from the reception of the emergency earthquake report, the line connection section connects the line of contact and operates the handsfree speech unit and thus the communication device is shifted to a handsfree speech state.
