<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of appropriately displaying an image in an environment, for example, excluding a low temperature environment, and suitable to, for example, stereoscopic display, and to provide a method for driving the device. <P>SOLUTION: A display panel 40 having a plurality of pixels is controlled by a drive control means (mainly by a timing controller 10). The drive control means selectively uses two drive modes of a first drive mode and a second drive mode to control scanning and driving of the display panel 40 so as to display an image corresponding to an input image signal on the display panel 40. In the second drive mode, the control means performs control to drive the panel in such a manner that a scanning period from starting scanning of a porion of one screen in the display panel 40 until finishing the scanning of one portion of the screen is shorter compared to a period in the first drive mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
