PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting circuit and a protection device of an LED illumination fixture, and to provide the lighting method and the protection method. SOLUTION: The lighting circuit and the protection device of the LED illumination fixture include: a circuit protection part which, by detecting presence/absence of a short circuit of a lamp or an output wire of the lamp, cuts off a driving power supply supplied to a lamp when the lamp or the output wire of the lamp is short-circuited; a constant current controller to carry out constant current control against the driving power supply when the lamp is lighted; a voltage detector to detect an output voltage of the constant current controller; and a driver which, in order to compensate a voltage loss caused by constant current control, by utilizing the detected voltage, controls the output voltage of PFC (Power Factor Correction).
