PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient and high power terahertz-wave radiation element. SOLUTION: The terahertz-wave radiation element includes: a multilayer structure in which at least two heterojunction structures are laminated, in which a substrate, a layer composed of a nitride semiconductor on the substrate, and a layer consisting of a nitride semiconductor having a bigger band gap than the nitride structure are laminated; a Schottky electrode to which the multilayer structure is Schottky-connected; and an ohmic electrode to which the multilayer structure is ohmic-connected, wherein the Schottky electrode has a radiation field conversion function for converting the electron plasma oscillation of a terahertz-frequency band generated in the multilayer structure to an electromagnetic wave of the terahertz-frequency band.
