PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blurring of a subject certainly, to prevent such a trouble that a recording medium becomes full and subsequent recording cannot be performed as much as possible, and to display a through image always smoothly even if continuous recording is performed. SOLUTION: An image captured with an imager is taken into a face detection section 27. The face detection section 27 detects the face image of a subject based on the image thus taken in. A still state determination section 28 determines whether the face image of the subject is in a still state based on the results from the face detection section 27. A still state detection counter 39 counts the number of frames determined still by the still state determination section 28. When the number of frames determined still reaches a predetermined value during half-pressing of a shutter button, a CPU 19 automatically records the low resolution image obtained by subjecting thinning processing to the captured image.
