An adhesive agent comprises a non-aqueous homogeneous mixture of (1) a compound having a polymerizable double bond and a cyano group bonded to a carbon atom of the double bond, (2) a polymer of a conjugated diene, (3) a polyisocyanate and (4) a solvent the ratio (1) to (2) being 1:0.7-1.8 and the amount of polyisocyanate being at least 0.3% of the total. Specified cyano group compounds are acrylonitrile, a cyanoacrylic acid, or ester, methacrylonitrile, a cyanoacrylonitrile, cyanomethacrylic acid or esters and a cyanomethacrylonitrile while methyl and ethyl alpha-cyanoacrylates are preferred. Specified conjugated diene polymers are natural rubber, butadiene-styrene and butadiene-acrylonitrile (preferred) rubber, chloroprene and isoprene polymers and isoprene-isobutylene copolymers. Specified polyisocyanates are tolylene diisocyanate, its dimer, naphthylene diisocyanate, the reaction product of hexanetriol and tolylene diisocyanate, triphenyl urethane phenylene diisocyanate, triphenyl methane diisocyanate and hexamethylene diisocyanate. Specified solvents are nitromethane, trichloroethylene, a mixture of nitromethane and trichloroethylene-these three being preferred-nitroethane, acetone, methylethyl ketone, chloroform, ethane dichloride, chlorobenzene, chlorotoluene, trichloroethylene, methyl ethyl and butyl acetate and dimethyl formamide. Fillers e.g. carbon black, ferric oxide, calcium silicate and titanium oxide, softening agents e.g. dibutyl and dioctyl phthalates, tricresyl and tributoxyethyl phosphates and stabilizers e.g. trimethyl dihydroquinone, phenyl-beta-naphthylamine, p-isopropoxy-diphenylamine and diphenyl-p-phenyldiamine. The adhesive agent polymerizes to a flexible film on standing.ALSO:The adhesion of sutures in operations, adhesion of an incised wound, adhesion and reinforcement of blood vessels and intestinal tracts, reinforcement of nerve sutures is carried out by means of an adhesive agent which polymerizes to a flexible elastic film on standing. The adhesive agent comprises a non-aqueous homogeneous mixture of (1) a compound having a polymerizable double bond and a cyano group bonded to a carbon atom of the double bond; (2) a polymer of a conjugated diene; (3) a polyisocyanate; and (4) a solvent (see Division C3). When applied to protein an isocyanate group in the adhesive agent forms a cross-linked bonding with a hydrogen atom in an amide group of the protein and good adhesion is obtained. In examples, the coating of tissues exposed after the removal of aneurysms wholly or partially and of a non-removable aneurysm with these adhesive agents are described, as well as the closure of cerebrospinal fluid fistul and cosmetic and plastic skin surgery operations using these agents.
