SELF-BALLASTED LAMP, AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-ballasted lamp securing heat radiation sufficient for suppressing a temperature rise of an LED chip without increasing the size of its base body.

SOLUTION: The self-ballasted lamp includes a light-emitting module having a plurality of LED chips mounted on a surface of a substrate. The self-ballasted lamp also includes a base body portion 21 and a plurality of heat radiating fins 22 provided around the base body portion 21, and the base body 12 to which the light-emitting module contacts in a heat conductive manner is provided to one end side of the base body portion 21. A globe 16 covering the light-emitting module is provided to one end side of the base body 12, a base 15 is provide to the other end side of the base body 12, and a lighting circuit is contained between the base body 12 and the base 15. An entire length h of the lamp from the globe 16 to the base 15 is made 70-120 mm. A surface area of the base body 12 exposed to the outside per 1W of electric power supplied to the light-emitting module is within a range of 20.5-24.4 cm2/W. By increasing the surface area of the base body 12 exposed to the outside, sufficient heat radiation is secured and an optimal range is defined so as not to excessively increase the size of the base body 12.
