PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nutrient component which, in the body of mammals including humans, has the effect of inducing the immunological response to the LPS of gram-negative bacteria of different strains or serotypes and to which safety was warranted by a long eating experience.

SOLUTION: Oral administration of lactoferrin induces the production of the IgG antibody specific to lipid A in serum.
