PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic carrier having a domain-matrix structure comprising a domain portion that contains at least one selected from waxes and crystalline resins as a main composition and a matrix portion that contains a resin as a main composition, in which an external additive separating and moving from a toner can be locally and unevenly retained in the domain portion, compared to a carrier which does not have the above domain-matrix structure. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic carrier includes: a core material; and a coating layer coating the core material and having a domain-matrix structure comprising a domain portion that contains at least one selected from waxes and crystalline resins as a main composition and a matrix portion that contains a resin as a main composition.
