Disclosed are: a pigment for cosmetic preparations, which is safe for use on the human body and has good adhesion to the skin and excellent feeling of use; a method for producing the pigment for cosmetic preparations; and a cosmetic preparation which is capable of obtaining moist and fresh feeling of use by containing the pigment for cosmetic preparations. Specifically disclosed is a pigment for cosmetic preparations, which is obtained by coating the surface of a pigment with a mannosylerythritol lipid that is a glycolipid represented by general formula (1) and configured of mannose, a sugar alcohol and a fatty acid. (In the formula, R1 and R2 may be the same or different and each represents an aliphatic acyl group having 6-20 carbon atoms; R3 and R4 may be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or an acetyl group; and n represents an integer of 2-4.)
