The method involves producing a position signal (Xp) that represents momentary geographical position of a vehicle. Topography information with respective to vehicle routes lying before the vehicle is determined based on the geographical position of the vehicle. A determination is made to check whether the vehicle approaches a road crest. Lighting range of a vehicle headlight (2) is dynamically reduced by reducing lighting power of the headlight when the vehicle approaches the road crest, such that a driver of the vehicle is not or less dazzled. An independent claim is also included for a device for regulating a lighting range of a headlight of a vehicle.
