[Also in Division E2] A clip comprises a body formed of plastics material as a single part consisting of two opposed arms 1, 2 and a flexible resilient waisted section 3 linking the arms at positions intermediately of their ends, the resilient waisted section constituting a common fulcrum about which each arm is pivotal relatively to the other arm, one pair of adjacent end portions 4, 5 of the arms (being mating jaws of the clip and the other adjacent end portions 6, 7 being finger grips, and spring means 9 engaging the finger grips to urge the finger grips apart and thereby force the jaws together. In the construction shown the spring means is a generally V-shaped leaf spring the apex of which fits against the waisted section and the legs being housed respectively in recesses formed along the inner facing sides of the end portions 6, 7 which form the finger grips. Suitable plastics material for the clip are nylon or polypropylene or any thermoplastic material and the leaf spring is either of a plastics material such as acetal resin or of metal. The outer surfaces of the finger grips are serrated. |
