Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which has high initial output at room temperature and at -30°C, high discharge capacity during high-rate discharging, and high capacity retention rate after endurance tests such as high temperature storage test and cycle test, while exhibiting excellent initial output performance and high-rate discharge capacity even after endurance tests. Specifically disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which comprises a collector, a positive electrode that contains a lithium-containing phosphate compound represented by LixMPO4 (wherein M represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of group 2-12 metals of the periodic table, and x satisfies 0 < x = 1.2) as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode that contains a negative electrode active material capable of absorbing and desorbing lithium ions, and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution. In the nonaqueous electrolyte battery, the nonaqueous electrolyte solution contains: (1) a chain ether; and (2) a cyclic carbonate that has an unsaturated bond. |
