The invention relates to a portable electronic device, in particular to an electronic board, including at least one electronic unit (4) associated with an optical switch (12) capable of being activated by a user and consisting of two separate photodetectors (6, 8) which are arranged at a sufficient distance from each other within the electronic device so as to enable said user to cover one of said two photodetectors with only one finger. The switch includes a logic circuit (14) to which first and second light reception signals (S1, S2) are provided, said signals being outputted by the two photodetectors, respectively. The logic circuit is arranged so as to provide a signal (S3) indicating the activation of said optical switch when said first and said second light reception signals correspond to two different logic states for said logic circuit.
