PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and inexpensive optical fiber monitoring device with necessary and sufficient functions. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber monitoring device 1, initial measurement information is generated by connecting a branch port 34 connected to an optical fiber 60 and a common port 33 as indicated and performing a measurement processing; monitoring measurement information is generated by connecting branch ports to common ports in order as scheduled and performing a measurement processing; when failure is detected based on the initial measurement information, the monitoring measurement information, and a predetermined determination criterion, a display 53 corresponding to the branch port where the failure has occurred is changed into a predetermined lighting state different from those of other displays, and an electronic mail stating the generation of the failure is transmitted to a predetermined mail address; and when a requirement of monitoring measurement information as to a certain branch port is transmitted from a control device connected through a predetermined network, the appropriate measurement information is returned.
