A manual window winder for a window of the type which is slidably mounted in a vehicle door and operated by an electric motor mounted in the door, the driving shaft of which rotates the window operating arm through a flexible drive cable 54 and gearing 28, 20, comprises a member rotatably connected to or formed with the input drive member 28 of the gearing; a crank-shaped handle 209 for insertion through an aperture 201 is an end face of the door structure; and a flexible drive cable comprising an elongate flexible core 252 arranged to be rotated by the handle and to drivingly engage said member, and an elongate outer sheath 254 for surrounding and guiding the inner core, the sheath being secured at one end to a fixed portion of the window winding mechanism in encircling disposition of said member and at its other end to the end face of the door structure about the aperture. As shown, worm gear 28 constitutes the said member and also acts as the input member of the gearing. The handle may be detachable, and is preferably secured to the inner core, which is disengageable from worm 28, e.g. by means of square hole 231 which receives the shaped end of the core. The window operating arm is driven via square socket 17. A grommet 208 seals hole 201 when not in use. |
