DEPOSIT AMOUNT DETECTOR AND DETECTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deposit amount detector and a detection system reducing the possibility of occurrence of detection error.

SOLUTION: The deposit amount detector includes: an insulating body 31 having a first main surface 31a on which the particulate matter PM contained in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is deposited and a second main surface 31b disposed in the opposite side of the first main surface 31a; a heating element 32; a first temperature sensor 33 detecting the temperature between it and the first main surface 31a; a second temperature sensor 34 detecting the temperature between it and the second main surface 31b; a corresponding relation recording part 41 in which the temperature set in a plurality of stages and the deposit amount correlated to the temperature are pre-recorded; and a deposit amount calculating part 42 reading out the deposit amount from the corresponding relation recording part 41 by taking the difference of the temperature detected by the second temperature sensor 34 from the temperature detected by the first temperature sensor 33 and based on the temperature indicated by the difference, and calculating the read out deposit amount as the deposit amount of the particulate matter PM deposited on the first main surface 31a.
