<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance responsiveness while simplifying a mechanism for adding reaction force resisting to step force of an accelerator pedal for avoidance of danger, notification of danger or enhancement of fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: The accelerator pedal device includes a pedal arm 30 turning around a first turning axis S1; a return spring 40; and a reaction force addition mechanism (drive source 60 and turning member 70 having a contact part 71 in contact with the pedal arm and turning around a second turning axis S2) for adding the reaction force in the direction of returning that the pedal arm to a rest position. A first distance from a position of contact of the contact part with the pedal arm to the first turning axis is longer than a second distance to the second turning axis, and the pedal arm has a contact area 35 displaced while the contact part 71 is in contact with it such that the contact part separates from the first turning axis at rotation when it advances to the maximum step-in position and it approaches to the first turning axis at rotation when it advances to the rest position.
