PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pay television control device that prohibits a user from viewing a pay broadcast illegally. SOLUTION: A control unit 41 has a charging control unit 48 that receives an operation signal to instruct the channel selection of a predetermined pay broadcast, and in response to this reception, allows the conversion of a retransmission signal corresponding to the operation signal if authentication for charging is completed in advance. A timer body 11 has not only a current detection unit 36 for detecting an amount of current for a television receiver 2, and an unauthorized use decision unit 44 that monitors the presence of the operation signal from a remote controller 12, and the amount of current detected by the current detection unit 36, and cuts off current supply to the television receiver 2 if the amount of current for the television receiver 2 is reduced to a value less than a threshold even though the operation signal is not received.
