Many patients with musculoskeletal injuries of a lower limb require the use of crutches in order to take part of his/her body weight. Moreover, the functional rehabilitation of walking generally requires a progressive increase in the load applied to the affected limb, which has hitherto been carried out by the patient in a subjective manner. The system of the invention allows exhaustive control of the range of forces to be applied to the crutch(es), based on the provision of a load cell (5) next to the lower end of the stick (3), which cell provides information via an amplifier (7) to a data capture card (8) worn by the user on a belt (9). The data capture system (8) is associated with a mechanism which generates touch and/or sound signals directly when the body burden is under or over the pre-determined value and, in addition, which supplies information via a wireless transceiver (10) to a PC (11) in which the information can be stored and analysed. |
