A marking lamp, which can be run over by vehicles, especially for use on airfields, comprises a base plate 5 sunk into the ground, a housing which can be fastened to and released from the base plate as a unit and which consists of a lower part 2 enclosing an adjustably mounted concave mirror 11 and an upper part 1 detachably connected to the lower part with or without a spring ring 4 and having a flange resting on a shoulder of the base plate, a light source 10 and at least one reflecting surface 9 mounted in the top of the housing. The part 1 has two windows 8 at opposite sides through which the light from the lamp is reflected by the surfaces 9 which may be mirrors or totally reflecting prisms. Where light in one direction only is required a single mirror or two mirrors arranged stepwise may be used. The mirrors may be curved or the windows 8 replaced by lenses. Where light in more than two directions is required, a plurality of mirrors or a rotating mirror and a corresponding number of windows may be used. The lamp 10 may be carried by the ring 4 or the upper part of the housing. The mirror 11 is carried by a cradle 20, the position of which can be adjusted and then secured by a clamping screw 23 to a spring plate 24 which is held in place by lugs 25 bearing on the inner wall of the housing. The base plate has arms 14 opposite the windows 8, in which are light channels 15, heating elements 16 for melting snow in the channels being provided. Colour filters which may be pivoted out of operative position, may be provided at one or each window.. |
