PURPOSE: A method and a system for tracing the position of a leak using an acoustic emission sensor attached on a boiler are provided to rapidly and precisely detect whether a leak is generated in a boiler. CONSTITUTION: A method for tracking the position of a leak using an acoustic emission sensor attached on a boiler is as follows. First acoustic emission sensors(115) are installed on the longitudinal end of a wave guide connected to a boiler header. Acoustic emission signals generated in second acoustic emission sensors(121) installed in a water screen are sensed. The position of a leak on a specific inner structure is traced and diagnosed using the sensed acoustic emission signals. The position where the acoustic emission signals are generated is traced.
