[Also in Division D1] A composition comprising dimethylolated glycol-mono-ureine and (a) a condensation product of acrylamide and dimethylolated glycolmono-ureine, or (b) a dimethylolated condensation product of acrylamide and glycol-monoureine, may be obtained by reacting less than 1 mol of acrylamide for every mol of dimethylolated glycol-mono-uriene to give product (a) above. The dimethylolated glycol-monoureine may be produced by condensing urea and glyoxal and reacting the resulting reaction product with formaldehyde; preferably 0À08 to 0À1 gram mols of acrylamide is subsequently reacted with every gram-mol of dimethylolated glycol-mono-ureine. Condensation product (b) above may be obtained by reacting 1 mole of urea for every mole of glyoxal to produce glycolmono-ureine, reacting the latter with 0À08 to 0À1 mol of acrylamide for every mol of the glycol-mono-ureine and treating the resulting reaction mixture with formaldehyde. |
