PURPOSE: A cargo structure and method for protecting the hull of a ship carrying cryogenic gas are provided to prevent damage to the hull by detecting the leakage of cryogenic gas through a temperature sensor. CONSTITUTION: A cargo structure for protecting the hull of a ship carrying cryogenic gas comprises a temperature sensor(140) and a spray(150). The temperature sensor is attached to the inner hull(160) of the ship and measures the inner temperature of the inner hull. The spray is attached to the inner hull of the ship and opened to spray the water stored in a ballast tank(170) to an insulation space(130) formed in the inner hull when the temperature measured by the temperature sensor is the set value or less.
