PURPOSE: A method for controlling an electric water pump for a hybrid vehicle is provided to minimize power consumption by controlling the speed of the water pump depending on the temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an electric water pump for a hybrid vehicle is as follows. A hybrid vehicle is started. The temperature of the electric and electronic components(20) of the hybrid vehicle is detected. The efficiency point of an electric water pump(10) is determined as the temperature of the electric and electronic components and the speed of the water pump. The speed of the water pump is increased or decreased depending on the temperature of the electric and electronic components and the efficiency point of the water pump.
