<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the brake structure of a hoist capable of reducing a manufacturing cost by simplifying an assembly process. <P>SOLUTION: In the brake structure of the hoist, the hoist comprises a brake drum 2 rotatable around a shaft 17 situated at the center of the hoist, and an electromagnetic brake 1 incorporated in the brake drum 2. The electromagnetic brake 1 is equipped with a plurality of moving cores 4; a brake shoe 5 situated outside the moving core 4 and connected to the moving core 4 through a coupling member 8, and having an outer peripheral surface opposed to the brake drum 2; and a fixed core corresponding to each of moving cores situated through press springs 12 to press the moving core 4 in the direction of the inner peripheral surface of the brake drum 2.
