PURPOSE: An image processing device and image processing method are provided to reduce the load of an image processing device by performing face detection processing and predicting the load of face processing. CONSTITUTION: An image input unit inputs an image. A face detecting unit detects an object region from an image that is inputted from the image input unit. A feature extracting unit extracts the feature amount from the object region that is detected by the face detecting unit. A control unit(120) controls the operation of the face detecting unit.
