PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying device capable of preventing the occurrence of a jam by enhancing carrying force, in the carrying device having a constitution for connecting an upstream side carrying passage respectively extending from a plurality of paper feeding ports to a downstream side carrying passage by merging at a certain merging point. SOLUTION: This carrying device includes a roller group 154 composed of (N+1) pieces of rollers 154A, 154B, 154C and 154D continuously arranged around the merging point J to N pieces of upstream side carrying passages 141, 142 and 143. In the roller group 154, driving rollers 154B and 154D rotated by a driving source and driven rollers 154A and 154C are alternately arranged in the continuous direction of this roller group. The rotation direction of the driving rollers 154B and 154D is set in a switching system so that a sheet is carried to the downstream side in response to an upstream side carrying passage to carry the sheet among the N pieces of upstream side carrying passages.
