<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key assembly to mechanically key a pluggable module socket. <P>SOLUTION: The key assembly 100 includes a key 105 having a shaft, a first radial protrusion extending from the shaft, and an annular guide surface on the shaft, and a key base 110 having a plurality of fingers defining a plurality of radial slots, and an opening receiving at least part of the shaft. At least one of the fingers engages with the annular guide surface to make the key 105 rotatable in a set position.
