<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic timepiece for informing its user of the reason for not performing ordinary display without consuming power, and preventing a screen from being seared by long-hour display of the reason. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic timepiece 1A includes a display means 3 having a memory property, and a control means for controlling the display means. The control means performs display-mode changeover control for performing display-mode changeovers among a first mode ST1 for performing ordinary display, a second mode ST2 for displaying the reason for not performing the ordinary display with visual representation, and a third mode ST3 for displaying the whole surface of the display means with a single color. Changeover control from the first mode to the second mode is performed, when the state of the electronic timepiece fulfills given conditions; changeover control from the second mode to the third mode is performed, after the passage for a given period of time from a shift to the second mode; display by visual representation is performed in the second mode; and update is stopped after displaying the single color in the third mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
