PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly achieve improvement in reproducibility of fine lines and prevention of partial peeling of a secondary color. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a laser exposure section 17 for exposing a photosensitive drum 1 in accordance with monochromatic image data provided by color separation of input multi-color image data to form an electrostatic latent image; and a printer control section 14 for calculating an exposure amount of each pixel of the monochromatic image data and controlling the laser exposure section 17 so that exposure is performed with the calculated exposure amount. The printer control section 14 includes a monochromatic exposure amount correcting section 64 for calculating a correction amount in accordance with a pixel value of a pixel around a target pixel of the monochromatic image data to correct an exposure amount of the target pixel on the basis of the calculated amount. The printer control section 14 includes a four-color exposure amount correcting section 63 for determining a coefficient for correction of the exposure amount on the basis of the multi-color image data. The monochromatic exposure amount correcting section 64 corrects the exposure amount using the coefficient and the correction amount determined by the four-color exposure amount correcting section 63.
