PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device for achieving a uniform media temperature and size throughout a pre-heat zone. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes a pre-heat system 100 positioned between a supply source of a web W and a print zone along a web path. This pre-heat system 100 includes a first heating stage 104 and a second heating stage 114. The first heating stage 104 includes at least one heater configured to heat the web W to an initial preheat temperature prior to reaching the second stage 114. The second stage 114 includes at least one heater configured to reduce a temperature of the web W from the initial preheat temperature to a target temperature of the preheating system.
