PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label printer which is made compact and light in weight and is easily controlled. SOLUTION: The label printer includes a board peeling device 42 disposed in a label sheet takeout port for delivering a printed label 19. The board peeling device includes a sensor 47 for detecting labels. The board peeling device peels a board 17 from the label by being located in the label sheet takeout port. The sensor is always ON to detect the label if present in the label take-out port. The label printer issues a label only when the sensor detects no label. In an (A) standard mode, the board peeling device is slid upward, and labels are continuously delivered without peeling any board. In a (B) standard mode, the board peeling device is slid downward to peel boards from the labels by a turning roller 53.
