<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly and a fuel cell wherein high power generation performance can be maintained over a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly 1 includes: an anode catalyst layer 5; an anode gas diffusion layer 6 laminated on the anode catalyst layer 5; a cathode catalyst layer 7; a cathode gas diffusion layer 8 laminated on the cathode catalyst layer 7; and an electrolyte membrane 4 arranged between the cathode catalyst layer 7 and the anode catalyst layer 5. The cathode catalyst layer 7 contains a carbon material carrier having water-repellency, catalyst particles carried on the carbon material carrier, and a solid polymer electrolyte. The content of the solid polymer electrolyte in the cathode catalyst layer 7 is 16.7 to 28.6 wt.%, and the peeling strength between the cathode catalyst layer 7 and the cathode gas diffusion layer 8 after power generation is 0.256 to 0.36 Ncm<SP>-2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
