PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in manufacturing cost and increase in the time to be spent on determination, and to reduce the labor of an operator, when a gift certificate is presented. SOLUTION: A money processing apparatus is configured, when paper money is input after a payment permission command is given, to determine this by a determination means, and to store normal paper money in a storage cabinet, and is provided with a determination control means, when a preliminarily set payment permission command is given, for changing the determination conditions of the determination means, and for determining whether the input object input subsequently is an already known gift certificate.
