The invention relates to a method for determining plastic deformation at fracture in metal materials, employing the simple standard tensile test on a cylindrical test piece and using an optical instrument (profile projector) to evaluate the maximum deformation produced in the smallest cross-section of the necking following fracture. Said method is suitable for use in the field of materials science and engineering, quality control of metals and numerical methods. |
