A content distribution system (100) is provided with a content distribution server (10) and portable game terminals (12). The content distribution server (10), for a plurality of digital contents, holds a first license for comprehensively licensing use thereof, and for digital content that has been selected by a user from among the plurality of digital contents, issues second licenses individually licensing use thereof to the portable game terminals (12). The portable game terminals (12) hold the second licenses, and permit use of the above selected digital content subject to the condition of being within the license period stipulated by the second license.
